Kick Butt in Business But Remember This

A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful, which God has implanted in the soul.

The Hardest Phone Call That You Ever Make

The hardest phone call that you ever make is the first phone call of the day

It's a drag to most of us.  Well here's some advice: Make that call right now.  Chances are great that it will lead to something huge.  Get yourself on a "roll" and good things will happen.  I can virtually guarantee it.

Let's face it, even though email is almost replacing the telephone as our main source of communication in business: it's still all about the phone.

If you are an employer and you have left a message for a candidate to call, call again.

If you are a candidate and you haven't heard back after an interview, call the employer right now.

What ever you want to accomplish and you have access to the phone, make that call right now.

Keep Your Eyes and Ears Open for Opportunities

When you receive a phone call from an executive recruiter, he or she may be presenting an outstanding job opportunity.  I really urge you to listen!

Even if you're not ready to make a change just yet, establish a relationship with the recruitment professional.  This person is usually "in the know" and can be a valuable resource to your career.

Here is a recruitment phone call that actually took place recently:

Recruiter:  "Hi, I have a wonderful career opportunity that I would like to discuss with you.  Do you keep your eyes and ears for great opportunities?"

Candidate:  "No, I already have a job."

Classic.

It's Your Move

Employers want to see great looking resumes.  Your resume is a reflection on you and your seriousness about your career.  Spend some time and make it first class.

People do judge you by your cover, especially your next employer.  Show some class.
