Keep Your Eyes and Ears Open for Opportunities

When you receive a phone call from an executive recruiter, he or she may be presenting an outstanding job opportunity.  I really urge you to listen!

Even if you're not ready to make a change just yet, establish a relationship with the recruitment professional.  This person is usually "in the know" and can be a valuable resource to your career.

Here is a recruitment phone call that actually took place recently:

Recruiter:  "Hi, I have a wonderful career opportunity that I would like to discuss with you.  Do you keep your eyes and ears for great opportunities?"

Candidate:  "No, I already have a job."

Classic.
